Ferrotitanium<\/strong>, as a group, ferroalloys contain from 30 to 60% Ti, up to 7% Al, 1-4.5 % Si, 3% Cu. They are obtained ferrotitanium<\/strong> Aluminothermy, a thermal method for producing metals by reducing their oxides with metallic aluminum, is used to produce ferrotitanium from ilmenite, a rare mineral and complex oxide, a highly valuable ore for titanium; titanium dioxide contains over 58%. The material is also produced by fusing titanium waste with steel scrap in an electric furnace. Ferrotitanium pieces must be sufficiently clean\u2014free of slag, sand, and other foreign material, neither on the surface nor in fractures. The melting point of ferrotitanium is 1320-1500 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n

Ferrotitanium applications<\/strong> Found for alloying steel or deoxidizing it. The technology is often used in the manufacture of critical components and assemblies. Ferrotitanium is widely used in the production of welding electrodes. Furthermore, the alloy (in small quantities) serves as an intermediate composition in the production of stainless steel, as the introduction of ferrotitanium imparts excellent corrosion resistance to the steel.<\/p>\n

Ferrotitanium is also actively used in the production of heat-resistant steel. When Ferrotitanium applications\u00a0<\/strong>is found in the production process, the weldability of steel improves, the strength of welded seams increases, and resistance to the occurrence of fatigue cracks during welding appears.<\/p>\n

Ferrotitanium GOST<\/strong>Ferrotitanium, produced according to established technological standards, is used in the manufacture of die and high-speed tool steels. The use of ferrotitanium offers significant advantages:<\/p>\n

  • improving the mechanical properties of the alloy;<\/li>\n

    Ferrotitanium grades according to GOST<\/h3>\n

    Stamps ferrotitanium<\/strong>\u00a0By\u00a0GOST<\/strong>, have the following designation:\u00a0<\/strong>FTi70S05 means it contains 68-75% of titanium and 0.5% of silicon; this alloy contains a large amount of titanium. FTi35S7 contains 28-40% of titanium and 7% of silicon. FTi25 contains significantly less titanium\u201420-30%\u2014and the carbon content in these grades is 0.2-0.4%.<\/p>\n

    Ferrotitanium grades: FeT30A110, FeT30A16, FeT40A10, FeT40A16, FeN40A18, FeT70 and others are used in the steelmaking and foundry industries for deoxidation and alloying of steels and alloys. Grade FTi70S08, according to customer requirements, includes a mass fraction of zirconium up to 1.0% and molybdenum no more than 1.5%. FTi35S8 - the mass fraction of titanium is no more than 40%, aluminum up to 10%, copper 1.5%, silicon no more than 6.0%, phosphorus up to 0.06%, tin no more than 0.04%, carbon 0.1%. Another distinguishing feature of this grade is the selection of high-quality raw materials, which allows silicon to maintain its percentage level, as well as aluminum (in accordance with GOST 4761-91). Grade Tn1, according to GOST 4761-54, is used for electrode coatings. It contains 18.0% titanium, 0.2% carbon, 3.5% silicon, 5.0% aluminum, and 3.0% copper. Ferrotitanium alloys of any grade are supplied in weights not exceeding 15 kg, in the form of particles 3-200 mm. Almost all grades of ferrotitanium perform the function of deoxidizing and alloying steels.<\/p>\n
