El acetileno se utiliza principalmente, mientras que el propano, el hidr\u00f3geno, la gasolina y el butano se usan con menos frecuencia. El calor generado durante la combusti\u00f3n funde los bordes de la superficie y el material de aportaci\u00f3n, formando un ba\u00f1o de soldadura.
