La lampe de pompage produit des \u00e9clairs lumineux tr\u00e8s intenses qui affectent fortement les atomes du milieu actif. Des miroirs sont situ\u00e9s sur les bords de la tige de rubis, l&#039;un partiellement transparent et l&#039;autre r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissant.
